Job summary

Soho House & Co in Frome is looking for a Barback to support the bar team in delivering exceptional service to guests. The Barback will assist bartenders and ensure drinks are delivered swiftly while maintaining a clean work environment.

Candidates should have 2-3 years of relevant experience, a basic understanding of bar operations, and a passion for customer service. The role includes flexible shifts and offers a competitive pay rate of £14.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• Ability to demonstrate competency as outlined in the training schedule.

Job description

At Soho House, a Barback plays an essential supporting role in the smooth and efficient operation of the bar. Working alongside the bar team, you’ll ensure that bartenders have everything they need to deliver fast, high‑quality service to our members and guests.

Your main responsibility is to assist the bar staff and make sure members receive a superior experience. You will deliver drinks orders from the bar to members’ tables, acting as a point of contact between the bar and the floor.

Key Duties

• Bring drinks quickly from the bar to its respective location in the restaurants and deliver to members.
• Maintain a spotless, pristine work environment.
• Provide service to and be accountable for an assigned section.
• Develop relationships with members to provide personalized service.
• Polishing glassware to ensure it is ready for service.
• Assist bartenders during service by restocking ingredients, running drinks, and retrieving supplies from storage or cellar.
• Perform opening and closing procedures, including but not limited to the set up and breakdown of stations.
• Ensure all service equipment is handled carefully and stored correctly.
• Attend regular meetings with front and back of house teams to learn about any menu changes and specials alongside daily tastings.

What We Are Looking For

• 2‑3 years’ experience in a similar capacity.
• Basic understanding of bar operations, hygiene standards, and stock rotation.
• Hospitable, approachable, passionate about customer service and respectful towards colleagues and guests.
• Ability to demonstrate competency as outlined in the training schedule and Club School.
• Ability to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Ability to take direction, work in a team environment and autonomously.

Pay Range

£14.50—£14.50 GBP (United Kingdom). The range for the position in different geographies may vary based on market differences.
