Job summary

Hall & Woodhouse Limited’s The Lighter in Topsham near Exeter is hiring bar and waiting staff for the season, with full or part-time options. You’ll join a friendly team, welcome guests, take orders and service drinks and meals in a busy, seaside pub setting.

The role is 18+, you’ll earn £13.11 per hour with a potential £13.45 after six months, plus tips and a 60% meals discount on duty. Contracts run through 31 January 2027 with room to extend.

Qualifications

• Experience in bar or waiting roles is an advantage.
• 18+ age due to alcohol service.
• Reliable, presentable and able to travel to the venue.

Responsibilities

• Serve drinks and meals as part of the front-of-house team.
• Greet customers and take orders in a busy pub environment.

Fabulous Pub - On the Quayside

Part of the Hall & Woodhouse family of iconic pubs and located in the historic Saxon town of Topsham on the banks of the Exe Estuary, the Lighter is a picturesque example of a friendly, classic English pub. Great for locals and visitors alike with flagstone floors, a log burner and large terrace right on Topsham Quay the pub is busy all year peaking in the summer months. The Lighter is well positioned close to all amenities and not far from Exeter.

We’re growing our Front of House team and are looking for enthusiastic Bar & Waiting staff to join us for the season and maybe beyond. Whether you're seeking full or part time work, we offer flexible hours that fit around your life.
