Job summary

An international financial services company in London is looking for a Mandarin Speaking Assistant Vice President of Business Risk. Responsibilities include monitoring financial client portfolios and supporting governance frameworks. The ideal candidate has native-level Mandarin skills and experience in commercial banking. This role offers a hybrid work model with one day from home after an initial onboarding period.

Responsibilities

Mandarin Speaking Assistant Vice President Business Risk

Salary: Competitive

Employment: Permanent

Start: ASAP

Working hours: 35 hours

Hybrid – 1 day work from home; first 1–2 months all days in office.

Responsibilities
  • Understand different types of FI clients and their business nature; closely monitor and evaluate client portfolio, market trends, regulatory updates, and internal policy changes to provide thorough analysis for business decision making process.
  • Support Head of Department to develop and maintain a comprehensive governance framework.
  • Familiar with both Head Office and local requirements; update and improve FI business procedures timely; oversee business execution, identify and document controls that meet bank and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the key point of contact on credit risk, market risk and liquidity risk matters or initiatives in the FI business area; maintain effective end-to-end engagement with 2 LoD and HoD to report FI risk control environment and improvement.
  • Participate and coordinate with working groups and project teams as required (e.g., RWA, EC, ICAAP and ILAAP).
  • Design and implement FI business line measures and procedures as required.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Prerequisites & Skills
  • Mandarin to native level.
  • Experience in commercial banking or capital markets.
  • Solid understanding of different types of risks in FI business area, both financial and non-financial.
  • Good wholesale banking product knowledge, especially for FI.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory, legislative requirements for FI business.
  • Change management skills.
  • Client-facing experience, client‑centric attitude and attention to detail.
  • Programming knowledge.
  • Multi-task management/prioritisation capability.
  • Problem-solving initiative, result-driven work style, efficient communication.
  • University degree or above.
  • Demonstrated risk management experience in financial industry environment or consultancy/audit, preferably in FI business area.
  • Strong understanding of financial products, services, processes and risk management processes.
  • Excellent analytical/statistical and problem solving skills; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in speaking and business writing in English and Mandarin.
  • Team player, proactive working attitude, strong self-discipline.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
