Job summary

Abbeyfield in Swanage is seeking a General Assistant (Bank) to support housekeping, cooking, and resident care on a casual, bank-worker basis. Pay ranges from £12.21 to £13.62 per hour, with training provided and eligibility to work in the UK required.

You will help maintain a clean, tidy environment for residents, assist with meals, and warmly welcome visitors, while following health and safety guidelines and home schedules.

Qualifications

  • No specific previous experience required; full training will be provided.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK is required.
  • An Enhanced DBS check will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Front-line care for residents, ensuring a welcoming environment.
  • Keep Home clean and tidy for residents and visitors.
  • Assist with meal preparation and support Kitchen staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness of residents' bedrooms, flats, communal areas and offices.
  • Provide clean laundry and assist with cleaning duties as scheduled by Home Manager.
  • Follow hygienic practices to keep kitchen and storerooms clean.

General Assistant (Housekeeper, Cook and Domestic) – Bank Agreement

Pay: £12.21 - £13.62p/h

Location: Swanage

The Role of General Assistant - Bank:
  • As one of our valued general assistants, you’re at the front line of care. We’re passionate about creating a lovely environment for our residents to enjoy. So you’ll help us keep our Home clean and tidy for our residents, assist with meal preparation, and welcome our many visitors.
  • Every resident should enjoy a tidy and well maintained environment, clean laundry, and carefully support the Kitchen staff in preparing meals, presented to the highest standard.
  • You may work within the cleaning and housekeeping schedules as set by the Home Manager or Housekeeper.
  • This varied role may include cleaning of the residents’ bedrooms, self-contained flats, the communal areas and offices.
  • You may also assist in providing healthy and nutritious food for our residents. By keeping all kitchen and store areas clean, and following all hygienic practices you help protect our residents and keep them safe.
Pay & Benefits
  • In line with your casual (bank) worker assignment agreement, we offer competitive pay that is benchmarked regularly, and in line with those of our employed staff in similar roles.

  • To carry out this role, you will be provided with mandatory training to get you started, as part of a comprehensive induction. To work for us in future assignments, you will be expected to keep your mandatory training up to date.
