Job summary

SAMH seeks a Bank Bank Support Worker in Glasgow to join our 24/7 mental health homes in Tollcross and Mount Vernon. You will deliver person-centred emotional, social and practical support to residents with varying mental health needs, enabling independent living.

The role requires recovery-focused approaches, good report-writing skills and the ability to develop professional support plans. A flexible, compassionate attitude and strong listening skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • SVQ Level II in Social Care or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Experience of working in the mental health or social care field.
  • Ability to write reports, assess client needs and develop professional support plans.
  • Flexible, caring and compassionate approach with good practical skills.

Salary: £13.45 per hour; plus sleepover enhancement and on-call payments
Shifts: Various; 8-4pm, 9-5pm 10-6pm, evening, sleepovers and on-calls

About the Role

Are you passionate about working in mental health? Do you have experience using recovery focused interventions? Easterhill and Brisbane are both 24/7 mental health care homes, in Tollcross and in Mount Vernon area of Glasgow. We support people living with moderate to severe and enduring mental health conditions to live fulfilled lives and achieve their goals by providing emotional, social and practical support.

This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to make a difference to peoples' lives. The successful candidate will play an important role in providing a person-centred approach, by utilising recovery focused interventions to support individuals to develop the skills and positive support networks required to live an independent life and maintain a tenancy in the community.

We are currently expanding our bank relief pool and are keen to invite applications from highly experienced support workers to join our team. Previous experience of providing emotional and practical support to people with a range of support needs is essential. We are particularly keen to hear from people who have experience of working with people who have mental health problems

What we are looking for;

The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate a mature and caring attitude and possess excellent listening and communication skills. You should already have experience of working in the field of mental health or social care and must be able to demonstrate a degree of skill in report writing, assessing client need and developing professional support plans. SVQ Level II in Social Care or equivalent is highly desirable. Whatever your background, a flexible caring compassionate approach combined with good practical skills will be essential.

In this role, your attitude and personality matter as much as your skills and previous experiences. Respect and dignity for the people who use our services is at the heart of everything we do. You do not need any specific qualifications at first, but what you do need is the right attitude and values. We are looking for people with great people skills who are honest, reliable and resilient in challenging situations. You should be flexible in the hours you are available to work.
