Job summary

Social Interest Group (SIG) is recruiting a flexible Support Worker based in the Ealing area to provide community-based support for individuals with mental health, wellbeing and substance use needs. You will join a flexible team, visiting participant homes and SIG accommodation services to help people achieve goals and live independently within the community.

A driving licence and access to a vehicle are highly desired as you will travel across residential homes.

Qualifications

• IT Proficiency and ability to learn new software programs.
• Willingness to travel across areas including Brighton and Hove.
• Experience supporting people with mental health, wellbeing or substance misuse is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Escort participants to medical appointments and accompany activities.
• Provide light domestic care, laundry, cleaning, and daily living support.
• Assist with accessing financial support and benefits claims.
• Support participants to achieve goals via support plans and reviews.
• Encourage participation in community activities and work with SIG services.
• Recognise signs of deteriorating health and initiate appropriate interventions.
• Complete safeguarding referrals when required.
• Support medication supervision and hospital appointments as needed.

Job description

Location: Based across Ealing within participant homes. Unfortunately step free access cannot be guaranteed.

Salary: £14.80per hour plus 12.07% annual leave accrual

About the Role

Join our Bank work force as a Support Worker to support our teams and participants across Ealing! You will join our flexible working team to provide community-based support for individuals with mental health, wellbeing and substance use needs. You will work alongside various services to support individuals to meet their unique goals, and provide opportunities available to them to live independently within the community and develop social skills.

Please note that this is a flexible role, we are unable to provide consistent rotas due to our resident/participant needs and service requirements. A driving license and access to a vehicle is highly desired as you will be travelling across residential private homes, as well as our SIG accommodation services.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Support participants with escorting to medical appointments
• Light domestic care and support which can include laundry and cleaning, as well as other essential activities to support daily living
• Support participants with gaining access to essential financial support including benefits claims
• Support participants to achieve desired outcomes/goals through support plans, risk assessments, and regular reviews
• Develop and encourage participation in activities and events within the community
• Work alongside community partners and other SIG services
• Recognise signs of deteriorating mental health, physical health, or other health implications and initiate appropriate interventions to prevent crisis or other risks
• Complete safeguarding and other referrals when required.
• Support participants in medications supervision, hospital appointments, bills/correspondence checking and compliance, prompting personal care.

• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, basic Microsoft experience is required
• Ability to travel across Brighton and Hove, including in areas which don't have public transport

• Experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, including in the criminal justice field, mental health, and/or substance misuse or a good understanding of the sector
• Understanding of the housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs
