A healthcare organization in Devon is seeking an enthusiastic physiotherapist to work with adults having learning disabilities and complex health needs. The role involves providing specialized physiotherapy within multidisciplinary teams, ensuring safe practices, and delivering evidence-based treatment programs. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills and a degree in Physiotherapy. Flexibility in working hours and hybrid working options are available. Commitment to patient care and inter-professional collaboration is essential for this role.

In service trainingand support will be provided. There may also be scope for shifts within ourmental health settings in the future.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiasticphysiotherapist withexcellent communication skills andexperience in working with complex physical health needs. Experience of workingwith people with learning disabilities is desirable but not essential if youhave the required transferrable skills.
These hours have arisen at an exciting time of change within our learningdisability service. There are 6 Specialist Health Community LearningDisabilities Teams covering Devon with bases in Barnstaple, Tiverton,Okehampton, Exeter, Honiton, Newton Abbot and Totnes. The teams provide a client focused community based service toadults with a learning disability and complex health needs which cannot be metby mainstream services.
As well as workingwithin the Specialist Health Community Learning Disability Teams, you will be apart of the Devon wide specialist physiotherapy team. We are a Monday to Friday9-5 service, with no on call demands. Flexible and hybrid working available.
You will haveresponsibility for a caseload and be required to work confidently with adultswith complex postural and physical needs, completing thorough assessments andproviding evidence based treatment programmes as well as training family andcarers in 24 hour postural management. There will be opportunities toparticipate in hydrotherapy, postural management clinics and to work closelywith senior physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants and students.

As a physiotherapist within the Specialist Health Community Learning Disability Teams, the post holder will:
Provide specialist physiotherapy for adults with a learning disability where access to generic physiotherapy treatment is not appropriate for them.
Use Physiotherapy skills to treat complex musculoskeletal physical problems which often occur in combination with other cognitive and/or sensory disabilities
Improve mobility for people with physical disabilities through the assessment and provision of specialist equipment e.g. wheelchairs, postural support systems and other assistive technologies
Work closely with other multi-disciplinary team members, carers and services to enable community inclusion and promote independence through reducing reliance on paid support
Be an active member of the multi-disciplinary and physiotherapy team and contribute appropriately to all service requirements and developments
Ensure safe practice and adherence to Safeguarding policies and procedures
