We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician role at HMP Lewes to join our team. HMP Lewes is a category B male prison located just a 5 minute walk from the centre of the historical town of Lewes.

This site features both a pharmacy and a dispenser, supported by a highly skilled and cohesive team of six. Due to ongoing growth they are looking to expand the team by adding six more technicians, creating a group of 12. The site provides excellent opportunities for learning and development, as well as career advancement through ACPT training. If you wish to check the prison out, the department would be more than happy for you to visit and see for yourself.

Job Responsibilities
  • Support pharmacy and dispensing operations in a secure environment.
  • Collate and dispense medication, ensuring accuracy and compliance with procedures.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering and stock control.
  • Provide patient and staff information and support in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Work within a multi‑disciplinary team, following policy and procedures.
Hours

Monday‑Thursday 07:30‑17:30 (30‑minute break)
Friday 07:30‑17:00 (30‑minute break)
Saturday and Sunday 08:00‑17:00 (30‑minute break)

Salary

This position is at a bank rate of £21.76 an hour.

Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3, BTEC or equivalent qualification.
  • Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Up‑to‑date with Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • General GCSE education or equivalent.
  • Relevant post‑qualification pharmacy experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised while following policy and procedures.
  • Ideal experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
