Job description

We're looking for experienced Band 8A Clinical Pharmacists to join our friendly and forward‑thinking pharmacy team at Wexham Park Hospital or Frimley Park Hospital. This bank opportunity will help cover service gaps across our Emergency Department (ED) and Acute Medical Unit (AMU) during the busy winter months, a time when your expertise will make a real impact on patient care, safety and flow.

You'll play a key role at the frontline of acute and emergency care, optimising medicines, supporting safe prescribing and ensuring patients receive the right treatment at the right time. Working closely with doctors, nurses and other pharmacists, you'll help keep our departments running smoothly during peak demand.

We're looking for confident, proactive pharmacists with strong clinical knowledge in acute or emergency care, who thrive under pressure and work well in a multidisciplinary team. You'll be a positive leader, supporting junior colleagues and driving improvements in patient safety and experience.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide a proactive clinical pharmacy service within the ED and AMU, supporting safe and effective use of medicines, optimising therapies and contributing to improved patient flow during winter pressures.
  • Assess pharmaceutical care needs and develop care plans.
  • Provide medicines reconciliation, optimisation and discharge support.
  • Advise medical and nursing staff on prescribing and medicines management.
  • Counsel patients and support continuity of care.
  • Participate in ward rounds and cross‑site pharmacy collaboration.
  • Act as an Independent Prescriber within your area of competence.
