Job summary

HCRG Care Group's Children's Community Health Team is seeking a motivated Band 5 Occupational Therapist to deliver high-quality OT assessments, diagnoses, and interventions for children, empowering families to achieve their potential. You will work within a multidisciplinary team across Surrey-wide hubs with hybrid working.

Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy is required.
• HCPC registration is required.
• Knowledge or training in ASD strategies/interventions (e.g. PECS, SCERTS, ADOS).
• Post-graduate training or equivalent experience in child development, ASD, ADHD, or neurodevelopmental conditions.
• Experience working with children in a paediatric setting.
• Confidence with a variety of assessments and treatment approaches.
• Desirable BAOT membership.
• Membership of a Special Interest Group is desirable.
• Clinical Educator qualification is desirable.
• Experience delivering community-based children’s OT services.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out high-quality School Based Assessments as part of a MDT for children and young people.
• Assess and provide tailored advice and interventions for children with diverse needs.
• Develop and implement individualised treatment plans in collaboration with families and carers.
• Recommend and support the use of specialist equipment for home and school settings.
• Liaise with professionals across health, education, social care, and voluntary sectors to ensure comprehensive care.
• Provide sensitive and effective communication with children and their families, adapting to needs and circumstances.
• Contribute to team performance targets and participate in supervision, training, and team meetings.
• Assist with prioritising treatment goals for children with complex needs or terminal illnesses, ensuring discharge planning and referrals.

As a Band 5 Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in a multidisciplinary team, supporting children with a range of developmental and performance challenges. Youll work in partnership with families, carers, and other professionals to enable self-management, independence, and well-being in childrens daily lives.

Main Responsibilities

The Ideal Candidate

• Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
• HCPC registration
• Knowledge or training in ASD strategies/interventions (e.g. PECS, SCERTS, ADOS)
• Evidence of post-graduate training or equivalent experience in: Child development ASD, ADHD, neurodevelopmental conditions
• Experience working with children in a similar paediatric setting
