Maternity Services are provided over 3 sites and we are able to offer women and staff the 4-birthing environment, home, freestanding birth centre, alongside birth centre and obstetric.

The Transitional care units offer additional support and monitoring to a wide range of infants from all over South Wales. This post offers an exciting opportunity to join a highly motivated team delivering Neonatal Care within the busy postnatal care setting on our ward.

Main duties of the job

Are you a Nursery Nurse/ NVQ level 3, looking for the opportunity to work as part of our friendly, dynamic and innovative multi professional team where your very special skills will be recognised?

Successful candidates will need to be sensitive towards children and their families, maintain standards of confidentiality and uphold the values of the UHB. In addition, the person should be professional, possess good communication skills, and have a flexible approach to working within the Transitional care service on the post‑natal ward.

Person Specification
Education / Qualifications / Training
  • NNEB (Nursery Nursing Examination Board)/BTEC National Diploma in Early Years/CACHE Diploma in Child Care Education/ NVQ level 3 (Health), or the equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a nursery nurse in a hospital setting.
Experience
  • Experience of working with babies/Children in a hospital setting/ nursery or school.
  • Experience of working with newborn babies and their families.
Skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to work well within a team; ability to plan and organise own work; use own initiative; able to record accurately, clearly and concisely; able to work in a professional manner and maintain confidentiality; able to work autonomously and follow care pathways and protocols; shares information appropriately.
  • Understands issues regarding accountability and delegation.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of care of the newborn; knowledge of safeguarding.
  • Experience with supporting breastfeeding mothers.
