About the Position

We have an exciting opportunity for a Bank Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Stocken, a Category C Men's Prison located in Stretton, Rutland.

In this role you’ll work with a multi‑disciplinary team that will support you and help you succeed.

Banking Hours
  • Monday to Sunday – various shifts
  • 8:00 – 16:00
  • 9:00 – 17:00
  • 8:30 – 16:30
  • 7:30 – 17:30
Banking Hourly Rate
  • Weekdays – £23.85
  • Weekends – £25.68
  • Bank Holidays – £30.82

Role Responsibilities
  • Carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
  • Undertaking medication rounds and assessing and treating patients who may have experienced trauma and who may be distressed
  • Assessing patients’ health needs using an evidence‑based framework and conducting risk assessments using sound clinical knowledge
  • Providing advice, support, and information to individuals and managing a case load of patients
  • Delivering non‑judgemental care that makes a real difference
  • Monitoring therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects, liaising with prescribers as required
  • Forging strong links with partners and stakeholders to inspire excellence
  • Promoting best practice, clinical supervision, and evidence‑based care
  • Sharing knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi‑disciplinary teams and supporting each other

Qualifications Required
  • Qualified Mental Health Nurse – NMC registration

  • Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse
Experience and Desired Background

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
