Job summary

Templeton House Care Home in Ayr is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment while supporting laundry duties and high hygiene standards.

You will assist with cleaning residents’ rooms, bathrooms and communal areas, and help with laundry tasks including washing, drying and ironing, ensuring items are correctly labeled and handled with care. This role is contracted to bank hours per week at £12.71 per hour.

Qualifications

• A positive and reliable approach.
• Good attention to detail and organisation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
• Understanding of hygiene and infection control is beneficial.
• Previous experience is welcomed but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Clean residents’ rooms, bathrooms and communal areas to high hygiene standards.
• Support laundry duties including washing, drying, ironing and returning clothing with clear labelling.
• Follow infection control and health and safety procedures in all tasks.
• Contribute to a well organised, comfortable environment where residents are respected and cared for.

Role Overview

As Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment while also supporting laundry services. This is a varied, hands on role where your attention to detail and high standards will directly impact comfort, dignity and daily wellbeing.

You will be responsible for cleaning residents’ rooms, bathrooms and communal areas, ensuring all spaces are maintained to a high standard of hygiene and presentation. Alongside this, you will support laundry duties including washing, drying, ironing and returning clothing correctly, ensuring all items are clearly labelled and handled with care.

Working closely with the wider team, you will follow infection control, health and safety and housekeeping procedures, ensuring all tasks are carried out safely and efficiently. Your role will contribute to a well organised and comfortable environment where individuals feel respected and supported.
