Overview

Are you a caring and compassionate Healthcare Support Worker? Would you like the opportunity to develop your skills in a community setting? If Yes then join our bank pool working at HMP Haverigg. You could be a key part of our multi-disciplined healthcare team, providing individualised care for our patients in a prison environment. Our services include reception screening, providing agreed care packages, undertaking appropriate physical health observations, clinics such as Phlebotomy, ECG, NHS health checks, sexual health and health promotion.

Responsibilities
  • Work under the delegated authority of a Registered Nurse and complement a Multi-Disciplinary healthcare team to provide high standards of individualised, non-judgmental care for patients.
  • Support operational requirements of delivering Prison Healthcare across Primary care, Mental Health and Substance misuse services to support holistic care packages within integrated services.
  • Undertake delegated duties covering the patient journey from reception of prisoners into prison through to discharge, including reception screening, providing agreed care packages, appropriate physical health observations, and clinical duties.
  • Run clinics such as Phlebotomy, ECG, and NHS health checks, as well as promote sexual health and overall health promotion to improve mental, physical and social needs.
  • Be part of the emergency response team as required.
  • Support patients showing low level mental ill health and withdrawal from illicit substances in accordance with agreed care plans.
