Spire Healthcare in Harpenden is seeking a Bank Healthcare Assistant to join our clinical teams on an as-and-when-required basis. You will support nurses, monitor patients, and contribute to a clean, safe environment while gaining experience in a dynamic hospital setting.

The role offers flexibility across long days and night shifts, with opportunities to cover busy periods, sickness, or annual leave. Previous hospital HCA experience is preferred, with NVQ/Care Certificates desirable.

Bank Healthcare Assistant | Harpenden | Wards | Days/Nights/Weekends Required

As a Bank Healthcare Assistant, you’ll work on an as-and-when-required basis, helping to support our clinical teams during busy periods, staff absences, and seasonal demands. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a dynamic hospital setting while maintaining flexibility around your lifestyle.

Duties and responsibilities:

• To assist the qualified nursing staff, under their supervision, in providing a high quality, comprehensive nursing service to all patients and users, ensuring a high standard of a patient care is maintained in a clean and safe environment.
• Contributing to the support and monitoring of patients
• Identifying and reporting any significant changes that might affect the patient's health and well-being to the appropriate person

Shifts Available – Long days & Nights Monday to Sunday

Who we are looking for:

• Previous experience of working as an HCA (or equivalent) in a hospital environment
• Theatre/minor ops experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience in: ECGs, taking blood/blood pressures and patient observations (Desirable)
• Good team work ethic
• Enthusiastic and energetic professional
• NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care / Care Certificate / NVQ Level 3 is desirable but not essential
• Flexible to be able to work a mixture of days/night shifts
