Job summary

Serencroft Care Homes in Stockport is seeking Bank Healthcare Assistants to support residents at Woodlands on a flexible, zero-hours basis. You will help with daily living activities and personal care, adjusting to the needs of the team and residents.

This role offers varied shifts across days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays, with a DBS enhanced check and commitment to compassionate, high-quality care. You will join a values-led home that emphasises dignity and independence.

Qualifications

• Experience in caring for residents is desirable but not essential.
• Demonstrates a caring, patient approach to support residents.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check is required.

Responsibilities

• Support residents with personal care and daily living activities.
• Assist residents with mobility using proper techniques and equipment.
• Support residents at mealtimes with eating and drinking where needed.
• Monitor and report changes in health or wellbeing to senior staff.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Support residents with personal care, including washing, dressing and continence care, in a dignified and person-centred way
• Assist residents with mobility, using appropriate moving and handling techniques and equipment
• Support residents at mealtimes, including assistance with eating and drinking where needed
• Monitor and report any changes in residents' health, wellbeing or behaviour to senior staff promptly
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records in line with home procedures
• Support residents to take part in social and recreational activities
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times
• Promote residents' dignity, independence and choice in all aspects of their care
• Work flexibly across shifts as required, covering absence and additional demand within the home

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant or in a similar care setting is desirable but not essential
• A caring, compassionate and patient approach to supporting residents
• Right to work in the UK
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
• Good communication skills and a flexible, can-do attitude
• Willingness to work flexibly across a range of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays, at short notice
• Care Certificate or NVQ/QCF in Health and Social Care is an advantage but not essential
