Priory East Midlands is seeking a Bank Healthcare Assistant to join our team at the Priory East Midlands site between Nottingham and Mansfield. The role is site based with shift work including days, nights and weekends; a minimum of 6 months experience in Mental Health enhancements is required for night/weekend work.

You will support care requirements, assist with daily tasks, and help maintain a safe, patient-centered environment in a specialist acute and psychiatric unit for adult females.

Qualifications

• Educated to a minimum NVQ 1 or GCSE’s in Mathematics and English.
• Understands the need for strict confidentiality.
• Basic IT literacy.
• Minimum 6 months experience working in Mental Health Enhancements for night/weekend work.
• Strong interpersonal skills and interaction with staff, patients and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Assists qualified staff with patient care plans and routine tasks to support wellbeing and dignity.
• Provides practical support for intimate personal needs in line with procedures and healthcare legislation.
• Observes and reports on patient wellbeing to senior staff or primary nurse.
• Engages in delegated interventions such as Observation and Engagement with Patients, escorting on leave, and de-escalation where needed.

Priory East Midlands has an opportunity for a Bank Healthcare Assistant to join our team.

Site based, shift work including days, nights & Weekends. A minimum of 6 months experience working in Mental Health Enhancements for night/weekend work.

Priory Hospital East Midlands, located between Nottingham and Mansfield, is a specialist acute and psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) service for adult females. It is accessible by public transport, with a local train station nearby and a bus stop just outside the hospital providing links to Annesley, Hucknall and Kirkby-in-Ashfield.

What you'll be doing

You’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the service. Whether you're assisting with day-to-day operations, supporting with care requirements, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.

• Assists qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed to facilitate the wellbeing, dignity and treatment of all patients.
• Provides practical support and responsive care to patients who require assistance with intimate personal needs such as dressing, bathing and toileting activities ensuring that such activities comply with procedures and the relevant healthcare legislation.
• Observes and monitors the wellbeing of patients ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate.
• Provide specific interventions with patients as delegated by a Registered Nurse, and following training and competency attainment. Such interventions include Observation and Engagement with Patients, escorting patients on leave, and being involved in de-escalation and management of violence and aggression. What you'll bring to the role

Essential for the role

• Educated to a minimum NVQ 1 or GCSE’s in Mathematics and English.

• The nature of the role necessitates frequent interaction with staff, patients and visitors on the ward involving the regular exchange of routine information in person and over the telephone. Well-developed observational and listening skills are essential for monitoring the mental, emotional and physical wellbeing of patients.
