Job description

We are looking for a reliable and motivated individual to join our team on a casual basis flexible shifts available to fit around your schedule!

You will help keep the unit running smoothly by managing stock and supplies, supporting housekeeping tasks, and preparing the clinical area ready for patients attending their dialysis treatment. Please note, this is a casual position, meaning hours are not guaranteed and will be offered based on unit needs. This role may suit individuals looking for flexible or ad-hoc work.

Location: Basingstoke Dialysis Unit, Unit 7, The Ringway Centre, Edison Road, Basingstoke, RG21 6YH. Free parking available on site.

Main duties of the job

Your main responsibilities:

  • Provide general assistance to nursing staff with patient care in the treatment room.
  • Liaise with transport and other departments in order to arrange appointments.
  • Support the unit routine, by escorting patients to the wards, blood specimens and pharmacy errands.
  • Monitor and record patients weights pre and post dialysis.
  • Prepare and serve patients with refreshments.
  • Preparation of the clinical area.
  • Maintain stocks and supplies within the treatment areas.

Job responsibilities

Main job purpose: (Note: In addition to the duties outlined, employees may be required to carry out other duties which do not affect the nature of this post).

To support qualified nursing staff and support workers by assisting in patient care under supervision, undertaking non nursing duties and assisting in the smooth running of the unit.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • To provide general assistance and support to the Dialysis team
  • To test the dialysis machines by switching them on in the morning to ensure in full working order
  • To test and confirm a safe unit water status pre dialysis (morning and afternoon)
  • To assist patients with weighing both pre and post dialysis
  • To assist patients to their seats ready for dialysis
  • To prepare and serve patients with refreshments
  • To assist patients out of the unit post dialysis
  • To prepare patient packs of dialysis consumables for the afternoon session/following day
  • To prepare the stores following daily delivery
  • To support the team with lining and priming of the dialysis machines throughout the day
  • To provide a safe and compliant disposal of clinical and general waste
  • To establish a suitable link role i.e. stores ordering or water analysis testing
  • To undertake mandatory training as required
  • To ensure reports from customers relating to product quality complaints or adverse drug reactions are documented and the essential minimum information is collected and forwarded to the Regulatory Affairs Department the same day they are received
  • To act in a professional manner at all times in order to promote a positive image of the Company
  • To adhere to B. Avitum Policies and Procedures, including the Quality Manual and Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines at all times
  • To deal with any other duties which do not change the nature of this post
