Main duties of the job

Working under the direct supervision of the Senior Nurse Lead and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care. They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, following policy and procedures.

Injectables (supported by theory,competencies & certificate & in-line with national search criteria asfoundation of PSD)-

B12 injections -following provision of certificate/competencies documentation

Pneumoniavaccinations (adults over 65) - following provision of certificate/competenciesdocumentation

Shinglesvaccinations (in line with national searches) - following provision of certificate/competenciesdocumentation

COVID Injections- following provision of certificate/competencies documentation

Influenzavaccinations (adults 18 years and over) following provision of certificate/competenciesdocumentation

NHS Health Checks

To carry outcalibration of Health Check Machine in line with national protocol Liaisonwith Practice Manager

QOF long termcondition management - working alongside Practice Nurse for patient reviews,any areas of QOF appropriate to role and at discretion of Practice Nurse, GP& Practice Manager

Blood-pressurechecks

Urinalysis (Dipstick urines in line with our urines policy liaising with Practice Nurse/GP)

Weight Managementchecks (where felt appropriate by GP/Practice Nurse/Dietician)

Diabetes Footchecks as part of annual Diabetes Reviews

Simple dressings(supported by Practice Nurse)

ECG recording

Chaperoningduties

Processing andmanagement of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses

Vaccine/coldchain storage, monitoring and recording

Surgicalequipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation

Preparing andmaintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient careinterventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minoroperations/joint injections where appropriate

Assisting in theassessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being

Undertakingspecific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated andtaught specifically in relation to that individual

Helping to raiseawareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted

Assisting withthe collection and collation of data on needs related to health and wellbeing

Any otherclinical or administrative duties in line with your individual skill set andfelt appropriate to this role
