Job Overview

At Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust, we are recruiting a Finance Business Partner to join our staff bank. You will quickly develop an understanding of the healthcare business, provide analytical support, and lead on quality decision‑making to help service lines achieve their financial strategy and key goals.

Responsibilities
  • Support operational and non‑operational managers of specified service lines in delivering financial strategy and key goals through high‑quality financial management, control and planning.
  • Assist in developing FIP/savings plans, monitor delivery, and maintain monitoring systems.
  • Prepare and review business cases, ensuring all costs, income, and benefits are fully understood; conduct post‑implementation reviews to assess benefits delivery and variance.
  • Provide financial and economic analysis for business cases, external service agreements, and strategic projects.
  • Analyse patient activity and other KPIs against financial performance to anticipate trends, identify weaknesses, and advise on implications for corporate support services.
  • Lead the annual budgetary cycle for specified service lines, challenge assumptions, and assess risk/mitigation with budget holders.
  • Coordinate, review, and ensure timely, accurate monthly financial reporting for service lines.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day administration of the budgetary control system, ensuring accurate data and compliance with Standing Financial Instructions.
  • Support commercial propositions at the divisional level and manage key contracts; maintain adherence to Trust financial control procedures.
  • Indirectly lead a finance team, assist in recruitment, development, and appraisal.
  • Provide formal financial training to budget holders and clinicians, ensuring adequate financial literacy within service lines.
