Our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) at NELFT are seeking Bank Band 6 Crisis Practitioners to join our Interact Psychiatric Liaison and Crisis Teams based in Goodmayes. This is an exciting opportunity to work flexibly across evenings and weekends, supporting young people and families during times of acute mental health need.

About the Service

The Interact and Crisis Teams play a vital role in providing rapid assessments, early interventions, and short-term support for children and young people experiencing a mental health crisis. Working closely with acute hospitals, community services, and families, we ensure timely and compassionate care that promotes recovery and resilience.

Who We are Looking For

You’ll be a qualified mental health nurse, social worker, or occupational therapist with professional registration (NMC/HCPC). You will have:

  • Experience in CAMHS, crisis intervention, or liaison psychiatry.
  • Strong assessment and risk management skills.
  • The ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A flexible, compassionate approach to supporting children, young people, and their families.
Main duties of the job
  • Provide urgent mental health assessments for children and young people presenting in crisis.
  • Deliver brief, evidence-based interventions to support emotional stability and prevent hospital admission.
  • Liaise closely with multidisciplinary professionals to ensure coordinated care.
  • Offer support and guidance to families and carers to manage and de‑escalate crisis situations.
  • Contribute to a responsive, person‑centred service that focuses on safety, empowerment, and recovery.
