Job summary

Shaw healthcare (Group) Ltd is seeking a Bank Chef for Forest View in Burgess Hill, West Sussex. You will prepare and serve home-cooked meals daily, liaise with the Home Manager and staff, and ensure dietary needs are met while upholding food hygiene standards.

You will work on a flexible bank basis with zero hours contracts, providing meals for residents, events, and catering for diverse cultural preferences. Shifts vary; environment focuses on dementia care and resident well-being.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering for elderly residents.
• Knowledge of HACCP and food hygiene practices.
• Ability to manage a catering team and work with service staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals for residents and others as required.
• Cater for diverse dietary needs and cultural preferences.
• Plan and provide meals for events and celebrations in the home.
• Order supplies within budget and follow policy guidelines.
• Maintain accurate catering records per HACCP.
• Assist in inspections by Environmental Health and/or regulators.
• Maintain hygiene standards in the kitchen and ensure safe working conditions.

Job Responsibilities

You will liaise with our Home Manager, Nutritional Therapist and staff to ensure high-quality fresh, home-cooked food is provided every day. You will also establish a rapport with our residents and their families in order to satisfy their dietary needs. This will include, but not limited to:

• Preparing, cooking and serving meals for residents and others as required, in a timely manner.
• Providing a varied diet, catering for the cultural preferences of those who use our services.
• Catering for celebrations and other events in our Home.
• Ordering supplies within the catering budget and company policy guidelines, using approved suppliers in the absence of the senior cook
• Maintaining accurate catering records in accordance with HACCP.
• Participating in inspections by Environmental Health and/or care regulators and Local Authorities.
• Maintaining a high standard of hygiene within the kitchen by adhering to HACCP and COSHH guidelines.
• Assisting in the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment by ensuring adherence to Health & Safety and Welfare.
• Ability to manage the Catering Team
