Job summary

The Orchard House in Withington is seeking a Bank Chef to join a caring team. You will liaise with the Home Manager and staff to prepare, cook and serve meals daily, catering to residents' dietary needs and cultural preferences, and help run the catering service within budget.

You will maintain HACCP hygiene, assist in inspections, and support the catering team to deliver high-quality fresh, home-cooked meals while supporting work/life balance.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering for a care home or similar environment is preferred.
• Ability to manage a catering team and work within budget.
• Commitment to food safety and HACCP guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals for residents and others in a timely manner.
• Provide a varied diet, catering for cultural preferences.
• Cater for celebrations and events in the home.
• Order supplies within the catering budget using approved suppliers.
• Maintain HACCP records and uphold hygiene standards.
• Assist in Health & Safety and welfare responsibilities.
• Support in managing the catering team.

Job description

You will liaise with our Home Manager, Nutritional Therapist and staff to ensure high-quality fresh, home-cooked food is provided every day. You will also establish a rapport with our residents and their families in order to satisfy their dietary needs. You will be responsible for:

• Preparing, cooking and serving meals for residents and others as required, in a timely manner.
• Providing a varied diet, catering for the cultural preferences of those who use our services.
• Catering for celebrations and other events in our Home.
• Ordering supplies within the catering budget and company policy guidelines, using approved suppliers in the absence of the senior cook
• Maintaining accurate catering records in accordance with HACCP.
• Participating in inspections by Environmental Health and/or care regulators and Local Authorities.
• Maintaining a high standard of hygiene within the kitchen by adhering to HACCP and COSHH guidelines.
• Assisting in the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment by ensuring adherence to Health & Safety and Welfare.
• Ability to manage the Catering Team
