Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our small friendly team at Penrith Community Hospital on a Bank post.

Position Overview

The role involves preparing salads and sandwiches for both patients and for the Café within the hospital. Provide a meal service to the patients, ensuring the presentation standards are high and food safety standards are adhered to.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare salads and sandwiches for patients and the hospital café.
  • Provide a well‑presented meal service to patients.
  • Serve customers in the café, taking both cash and card payments and cashing up from time to time.
  • Deal with receiving deliveries into the department and assist in putting the stock away.
  • Communicate with colleagues and nursing staff face to face or via phone.
  • Record all appropriate temperatures and ensure HACCP information is completed appropriately.
  • Work as part of a small team.
  • Previous catering experience would be preferred but full training will be given to the successful candidate.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding adults and children. Therefore if the post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, the successful candidate(s) will be subject to a criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The cost of the DBS must be met by the applicant through salary deduction.

  • Standard Check: £18 + £3.85 administration = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 in first month and £5 per month for the following three months.
  • Enhanced Check: £38 + £3.90 administration = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 in first month and £10 per month for the following three months.
