A prominent healthcare organization in London is seeking a skilled laboratory professional to join their Cellular Pathology team. Responsibilities include performing laboratory procedures, maintaining safety protocols, and collaborating with biomedical scientists. Candidates must hold relevant qualifications including a degree in biological science and possess practical experience in Cellular Pathology, preferably within the NHS. To be anefficient flexible member of the CellularPathology laboratory providing a high quality service to ImperialCollege Healthcare Trust.
Tomaintain the required levels of laboratory safety and good laboratory practice,as specified in local and national guidelines.
To workwith biomedical scientists and clinical scientists in the provision of acomprehensive and effective Cellular Pathology servicefor the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, as directed by the Head of theDepartment.
To participate in the efficienthandling, processing and analysis of samples in the laboratory, undersupervision.
Tomaintain effective records of all activities and procedures, and to contributetowards the maintenance of the laboratory's quality system.
Tocheck, keep clean and maintain laboratory equipment.
To carry out supervised laboratoryprocedures in all sections of the laboratory, as directed by the Head of theUnit and senior scientific staff.
To undergo appropriate teaching andtraining as directed and as necessary in order to maintain HPC registrationand to maintain suitable records of alltraining activities undertaken.

The postholder will demonstrate politeness, courtesy, and sensitivity in all interactions, promoting a positive image of the Trust and contributing to the sharing of good practice. They will attain proficiency in designated diagnostic areas and deliver appropriate services, working autonomously within their scope and referring when necessary. The role requires effective workload management, adherence to safe working practices and SOPs, and support for internal and external quality assurance processes. The postholder will validate and authorize reports as per local policy, ensure accurate documentation, and comply with Trust standards. They will identify and report risks in line with Trust policy.
The postholder will actively implement and reinforce Trust policies and procedures, engage in personal and professional development through the Trusts review systems, and record and report incidents or complaints while assisting in investigations. They will support accreditation and inspection processes for regulatory bodies such as UKAS, MHRA, HTA, and EFI.
They will assist in maintaining stock levels and managing resources, contribute to the evaluation and development of techniques, and maintain and calibrate equipment when working independently.
The role includes supporting the training and supervision of staff, assisting in team planning and coordination, and adhering to core Trust policies including sickness, leave, and health and safety. The postholder will participate in one-to-one meetings, PDP development, and staff appraisals, fostering a collaborative team environment and sharing knowledge.
The postholder must hold a Specialist Diploma or equivalent in the relevant discipline, undertake training to acquire and maintain core competencies, maintain HPC registration and a CPD portfolio, and continuously develop scientific expertise.
They will undertake training for electronic systems and maintain an active email account. They will accurately enter patient data and test results into the laboratory system and collect audit and research data as required.
The postholder will operate independently within clinical and professional guidelines, seeking support when needed. They may be required to perform any other duties commensurate with the grade as requested.
