Job summary

A leading healthcare institution in the United Kingdom is seeking a candidate to develop and implement a sustainability and net zero carbon management strategy. The successful applicant will oversee the delivery of Green Plans, manage procurement related to energy and carbon credits, and provide leadership on sustainability issues. This role is critical in ensuring that the Trust meets its financial and legal obligations regarding carbon reduction. This position is essential for communication about the Trust's sustainability performance targets.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Develop a sustainability and net zero carbon management strategy for BHRUT and implement it within an agreed timescale.
  • Develop and oversee the delivery of the BHRUT Green Plans.
  • Manage the interface with Supplies and Commercial Services for procurement of energy, utilities and carbon credits, and with ProjectCo for energy‑related PFI services for the Trust.
  • Take overall responsibility for the procurement of energy and carbon credits both inside and outside the PFI, working closely with procurement and estates colleagues.
  • Provide leadership on sustainability and carbon management issues for the Trust’s leadership.
  • Ensure delivery against net‑zero carbon reduction and cost‑saving objectives to meet the Trust’s financial and legal obligations.
  • Provide and receive highly complex, sensitive information and present it to groups.
  • Lead communication of what is required for the Trust to achieve its sustainability and carbon‑reduction performance targets and strategic objectives inside and outside the Trust.
