Job description

Role: Locum Senior Specialist Oncology Pharmacist
Banding: Band 8a
Location: Harrow
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 3 Months
Hours: Full-time, Monday – Friday
Rate: £34 – £39 per hour

The Pharmacy team at Pulse is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 8a Senior Specialist Oncology Pharmacist to join our team in Harrow. This is a temporary position for 3 months, with a Monday to Friday shift pattern. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing pharmaceutical services to Oncology and Haematology patients, ensuring the highest standards of care.

Key Responsibilities:

You will deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical services to Oncology/Haematology patients. You will utilize clinical audit or research to enhance practice and service delivery. You will provide expert knowledge in Cancer chemotherapy (Oncology and/or Haematology) therapeutics. You will recommend and communicate therapeutic options effectively in a multi-disciplinary setting. You will manage clinical, operational, and governance tasks efficiently. You will identify and manage risks associated with pharmaceutical care.

Requirements:

  • Education and Qualifications:
    • GPhC Registered.
    • 1 year pre-registration training.
    • Master’s degree in pharmacy (MPharm) accredited by the GPhC.
    • Prior NHS hospital experience, particularly in clinical ward areas.
    • Significant post-registration training and experience in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice.
    • Substantive clinical experience in providing pharmaceutical services to Oncology/Haematology patients.
    • Demonstrable experience in using clinical audit or research to improve practice/service.
    • In-depth knowledge of Cancer chemotherapy (Oncology and/or Haematology) therapeutics.
    • Proven ability to recommend and communicate therapeutic options both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to work under pressure, both independently and as part of a team.
    • Proficiency in using computer systems, including Excel and Word.
    • Excellent personal organization and time management skills.
  • Skills and Knowledge:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
    • Strong knowledge of medicines and their applications.
