Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in London is seeking a Lead Lithotripsy Radiographer. In this role, you will perform ESWL procedures and manage the lithotripsy unit, ensuring high-quality service and training staff. The ideal candidate will have a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography along with clinical experience in performing lithotripsy. This position offers a salary between £64,156 and £71,148 per annum.

Band 8a Lead Lithotripsy Radiographer

In your role as a Lithotripsy Practitioner Radiographer you would be responsible for performing Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) procedures, utilizing x-ray or ultrasound guidance to treat kidney stones, providing clinical guidance to colleagues and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams. In addition to clinical duties, the role includes managing the lithotripsy unit for optimal efficiency and quality of service, providing consultancy to other practitioners and clinicians and providing leadership and guidance to a Lithotripsy Practitioner Radiographer within the unit. You would provide training and education whilst both leading and participating in clinical audit and research. You would work alongside the current team in the organisation and continue the development of the ESWL service.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
  • BSc Hons in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.
  • Certificate of Medical Ultrasound (DMU) OR Diploma of Medical Ultrasound (General).
Professional/Statutory Registration
  • State Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) UK.
Previous Experience
  • Recent clinical experience at senior Radiographer level in an acute healthcare setting in a range of imaging modalities – to include urological imaging.
  • Experience with performing Lithotripsy.
  • Evidence of multidisciplinary team working.
  • Experience in student supervision and training of less experienced Radiographers and students.
  • Experience working as a Sonographer / performing Ultrasounds in Urology and/or for kidney and ureteric stones.
  • Evidence of audit or involvement in clinical governance.
  • Experience in clinical evaluation of technology and procurement processes.
  • Evidence of experience in management and leadership.
Skills /Knowledge/ Ability
  • Exemplary professional appearance, approach and attitude – ability to work well with an interdisciplinary team and promote effective working.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and manage own workload.
  • Able to demonstrate good technical knowledge and continue to develop it.
  • Ability to move and operate Lithotripsy equipment with provision of training.
