Job summary

This post is a permanent job-share position, working 18.75 hours per week. The post-holder will work as a member of the Divisional Management team to lead and manage the extensive clinical governance programme across Dental Services, which includes a wide range of projects relating to risk management, health & safety, and meeting the regulatory requirements of external standards and inspection such as those undertaken by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Job responsibilities

The post-holder will lead, plan, support, facilitate and monitor the progress of governance projects including incident management, audit as part of quality improvement, complaint handling, projects to improve patient safety and experience, local risk management, learning lessons and clinical effectiveness. The holder is responsible for the design, development and delivery of associated in-house training linked to these projects. The post-holder will lead on developing and maintaining the Dental Services risk assessment, risk register and incident reporting systems. The holder will manage the Dental Services patient experience and complaint systems in line with NHS and Trust legislation, policies and procedures.

Remuneration and contract

Salary: £55,690 to £62,682 a year per annum. Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Job share.

Qualifications & Training Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience working at a senior level in clinical governance within the NHS
  • Post‑graduate management qualification or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuing personal and professional development in specialist areas

Qualifications & Training Desirable

  • Possess a relevant Clinical Qualification or experience within a clinical field

Experience Essential

  • Significant experience and achievement in clinical governance and risk management
  • Significant experience in managing change and service improvement including an awareness of audit principles and their application in the workplace

Experience Desirable

  • Relevant experience of delivering training
  • Relevant experience of line management processes to include workforce and employee relation matters

Knowledge & Skills Requirements Essential

  • Extensive understanding and knowledge of current legislation relating to patient safety, clinical governance and risk management and the ability to translate these into operational systems
  • Excellent understanding of national health policy and priorities in relation to patient safety and service needs
