UHB Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) has an exciting opportunity for an IRMER Practitioner role to join the team. This is a shared role across the Hem / Onc research team and RDI with a broader remit for collaborative work across the Advanced Therapies Treatment Centre (ATTC) network. The primary focus of this role is to ensure there is early radiology input into the development of clinical trial and research protocols involving radiological therapies/investigations at University Hospitals Birmingham, the ATTC network and Pharma companies. The role will work closely with the research imaging team to contribute to the efficient set up of trials within UHB and provide insight into achieving accelerated set up times across the ATTC network.
The post holder will be a registered Radiographer with qualifications and experience reflecting a good understanding of IRMER regulatory compliance, clinical trial research, the regulations and guidance covering clinical trials in the UK, HRA, MHRA and commercial sponsor responsibilities for clinical trials involving ionising radiation. The post holder will provide support, advice and liaise with internal and external user groups on day to day matters to ensure the smooth operation of imaging regulation services.
The post holder will be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of research to ensure optimum safety and care; ensuring studies meet ionising radiation legislative and general safety requirements. This includes acting as an expert resource for colleagues to support them in the design and delivery of safe and valid research. They will be based within University Hospitals Birmingham Research and Development department and will also support the ATTC. They will also work closely with the Research and Development and Radiology departments at Birmingham Health Partner Trusts, research staff at our partner Clinical Trials Unit (CTU), Birmingham CTU, and external agencies including the NIHR and the NIHR Clinical Research Network.
