Job summary

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Band 7 Oncology Dietitian to join the Upper GI and Oncology Service at Watford General Hospital. You will provide expert dietetic input, train dietitians-in-training, and supervise junior staff within a supportive MDT environment.

The role offers opportunities to develop the service, engage in audits, and participate in CPD activities alongside a team of 17 dietitians in a dynamic, patient-centered hospital network.

Qualifications

• Provide clinical expertise for dietetic colleagues across oncology and upper GI services.
• Support training of student dietitians and supervision of junior staff.
• Contribute to service development and audit within the division.

Responsibilities

• Deliver dietetic input to acute oncology and surgical inpatients.

Band 7 - Oncology Dietitian, Nutrition and Dietetics

A Vacancy at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Dietitian to work with our Upper GI and Oncology Service at Watford General Hospital.

The successful applicant will be a source of clinical expertise for Dietetic colleagues and will take an active role in the training of student Dietitians and the supervision of junior staff.

This is a well-established post, with opportunities to further develop the service.

Interviews are scheduled to take place on 26 October 2026.

As an integral member of the Upper GI Oncology Multidisciplinary Team, working alongside Specialist Nurses and Consultants, there will be exciting opportunities to contribute to new developments across the division. The post will also provide dietetic input to acute oncology and surgical inpatients.

The post holder will join a team of 17 full and part-time Dietitians. The department is committed to providing a high-quality service, promoting evidence-based practice, audit and continuing professional development (CPD).

There are opportunities for training and development, alongside clinical supervision, regular journal clubs and study sessions.

With a new hospital planned for Watford, work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital and plans for a neighbourhood healthcare centre in Hemel Hempstead, this is an exciting time to join us.
