To provide leadership to a designated area, and to work as part of the Occupational Therapy team working within a specialist neurological hospital, providing a high standard of Occupational Therapy assessment, treatment and advice for patients with acute, chronic and progressive Neuro-disability. This post holder is responsible for the provision of an Occupational Therapy service within a designated area and reports directly to the Clinical Specialists in Occupational Therapy. They work collaboratively within integrated multidisciplinary teams to offer a comprehensive patient centred service.
Professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of the practitioner’s professional activities.
To undertake specialist assessment for patients with complex presentation across the neuroscience specialities including neurology, neurosurgery, neuro-rehabilitation, acquired brain injury, as an autonomous practitioner, including diagnosis and interpretation of results using specialist analytical skills.
To be responsible for own, and other Occupational Therapists in the designated team, competent and safe use of equipment /aids and to adhere to department policies.
To ensure that all equipment defects, accidents and complaints are reported to the clinical specialist immediately and appropriate action is taken by those concerned.
