Job description
Responsibilities


  • Provide autonomous diabetes care for patients using advanced clinical skills and knowledge of diabetes across our Outpatient service.

  • Lead and autonomously manage a caseload of Outpatients with Diabetes including Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3c Diabetes, ante‑nal, young adult, renal, and CGM/pump/HCL therapy patients.

  • Deliver structured education (DAFNE) to patients with type 1 diabetes.

  • Deliver insulin pump training to individuals and groups of patients with type 1 diabetes and provide ongoing follow‑up.

  • Take responsibility for own evidence‑based practice and implement and add to the body of knowledge that supports expert practice within Diabetes.

  • Lead and innovate diabetes‑related specialist practice, both within the Trust and through local networks.

  • Develop diabetes guidelines, protocols and policies for the Trust.

  • Develop / train all staff within the multidisciplinary team, providing support, advice, formal and informal education; support training of dietetic students.

  • Actively contribute to and participate in the delivery of Trust‑wide multidisciplinary mandatory training and teaching.



Location

Post will be based at Royal Free Hospital site with 1 MDT clinic per week at Edgeware Community Hospital.



Eligibility & Requirements


  • Band 7 Diabetes Outpatient Dietitian.

  • Must be eligible to work in the United Kingdom or meet sponsorship criteria under the Skilled Worker visa route.

  • Must hold or be eligible for a DBS (CRB) if the role involves regulated activities.

  • TrustID electronic identity verification will be required as part of pre‑employment checks.
