Job summary

A mental health service provider in the City of London seeks a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to manage referrals and conduct assessments for children and adolescents. Job description
Overview

Wandsworth SPA triages referrals and assesses children and adolescents experiencing a range of mental health, neurodevelopmental and emotional difficulties. Teams coordinate support and signpost families to appropriate CAMHS or alternative routes.

Responsibilities
  • Process new referrals and conduct initial brief triage calls to assess risk and develop care plans.
  • Offer telephone, e-consultation and face‑to‑face assessment to young people and families.
  • Carry out high‑quality assessments, formulation and evidence‑based treatment within Tier 3 CAMHS.
  • Co‑ordinate care for caseload children, young people and families and manage risk within team, Directorate and Trust structures.
  • Use screening and outcome measures to demonstrate treatment effectiveness and seek feedback about experience.
  • Participate in duty rota and liaison with professionals from other CAMHS teams and agencies.
  • Support integration of assessment where social contextual issues are present.
Qualifications
  • Registered with HCPC as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist.
  • Experience working with children and young people in a CAMHS Community setting and providing mental health assessments, treatment and care co‑ordination.
  • Band 7 competency and the ability to deliver evidence‑based interventions using a range of therapeutic models.
  • Experience with risk assessment, risk management and use of screening and outcome measures.
