Job summary

A regional NHS Trust in Portsmouth is seeking a full-time Band 7 Audiologist or Clinical Scientist to lead their Vestibular assessment and rehabilitation service. The role involves managing a team, conducting vestibular tests, and supervising trainees. Ideal candidates will have relevant audiological qualifications and strong clinical experience. Competitive salary range of £47,810 - £54,710 pro rata.

We are recruiting a full-time, permanent, Band 7 Audiologist or Clinical Scientist to lead our Vestibular assessment and rehabilitation service. Job responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Audiologist to lead our vestibular testing and rehabilitation service, and line manage a team of Audiologists involved in this service. You will be able to fully utilise their excellent experience in routine adult assessment and rehabilitation, or paediatric assessment and be eligible for AHCS (RCCP) or HCPC registration. Opportunities are available in other areas of Audiology including complex adults, tinnitus management and paediatrics. Excellent clinical, communication and organisational skills are essential.

You will be looking for a Trust that will enable you to grow and assist more junior members of the team; we are also a busy training department so this role will involve supervision of students on the STP and HTS. There are opportunities to be involved with service review and development and we would be delighted to showcase these opportunities and show you around our department.

The department provides a wide variety of Audiology services. We cover a large geographical area with clinics in Hampshire, western West Sussex and the Isle of Wight. Applications for part-time hours will be considered.

Person Specification
Experience
  • Relevant practical knowledge and experience. Patient handling, counselling and all necessary skills involved in adult working.
  • Experience of Vestibular testing including VNG, Vemps, and vHIT.
  • Experience of using all relevant diagnostic, rehabilitative and clinical instrumentation including the fitting and verification of hearing aids.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures.
  • Ability to have oversite of equipment, resources and monitoring of staff completing vestibular testing.
Qualifications
  • STP, or M.Sc. in Clinical Audiological Science and Certificate of Audiological Competence, or BAAT or PTP or BSc in Audiology.
  • Clinical skills and management to appropriate standard of independent practice as supported by or working towards State Registration.
