Job summary

A leading children's healthcare provider in Liverpool is seeking a Band 6 Specialist Speech & Language Therapist. The role involves delivering speech and language therapy services across various settings including clinics and schools. Ideal candidates will have experience as a Band 5 Therapist and a solid understanding of evidence-based pathways for child communication disorders. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential. This is a permanent, community-based position with travel across Liverpool and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

  • Good understanding of evidence-based care pathways for paediatric speech, language and communication disorders.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Work within the neighbourhood team to provide high‑quality speech & language therapy service to children in clinics, homes, schools and nurseries.
  • Assess, implement and review speech & language therapy treatment and discharge in a timely manner.
  • Ensure children/carers are involved in planning and prioritising care plans and facilitate joint decisions wherever possible.
  • Work with clients on an individual and group basis.
  • Work independently as a member of the Speech & Language Therapy Team and a wider multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Reflect on auditory, visual and kinaesthetic aspects of client communication and identify appropriate strategies to facilitate and enhance communicative effectiveness.
  • Engage in collaborative working practices with children & young people, their parents/carers, educational, social care and health professionals.
  • Adapt practice to meet individual circumstances, including due regard for cultural and linguistic differences.
  • Negotiate with carers, clients and others around individual case management, including management of the communication environment.
  • Travel to, and between, various locations throughout the week.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experienced Band 5 Speech & Language Therapist (or equivalent) in community practice.
  • Good understanding of evidence‑based care pathways for paediatric speech, language and communication disorders.
  • Strong communication, reflective practice and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to undertake continuing professional development and research opportunities.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and hold a current NHS Practitioner Status (or access to obtain).
Employment Terms

Band 6 Specialist Speech & Language Therapist – permanent position – based in the community, with travel across Liverpool and surrounding areas.
