Overview

Be part of the movement to improve and deliver neurodevelopmental and mental health services for young people in the city of Birmingham. We have an opportunity for a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in Forward Thinking Birmingham in our Autism Assessment Team. We are keen to hear from speech and language therapists who are enthusiastic and creative in their approach to service delivery and committed to improving the lives of neurodiverse children and young people. There is a commitment in Birmingham to enhance service provision for this complex population, and we are excited to hear from people who want to join us on the journey to improve services.

Responsibilities

The post holder will be able to contribute to the ongoing development of the team that will ensure all young people accessing mental health services have access to a timely, evidence‑based assessment, as well as inform post diagnostic input to ensure young people’s experience is high quality and appropriate to guide their care going forwards. The post holder will have the opportunity to work alongside multi‑disciplinary colleagues in mental health teams offering specialist consultation and advice to inform care planning and intervention for neurodiverse young people.

As part of our safe recruitment practice pre‑employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. As part of the selection process you may be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, however all cases of criminal record history are dealt with on a case by case basis.

Please note, if applicable for your role you will be required to cover the cost of your DBS certificate. This will be deducted from your salary over 3 months. You will also be required to sign up to the DBS Update Service before commencement with the Trust. The Trust will reimburse this. You will be contractually obliged to maintain your subscription.

All successful applicants will be required to complete the Trust's induction programme. The Fundamental (Statutory and Mandatory) training will be in an e‑learning format. You will be required to complete training modules online (approx. 9‑14 hours depending on post) by the end of your second week with us.

Relocation expenses may be reimbursed subject to eligibility. The policy provides for reimbursement up to £8,000.
