Main duties of the job

Responsible for providing specialised Occupational Therapy (OT) service to patients treated within RFH services in the given clinical area. This requires working under guidance and incorporating evidence‑based practice (EBP) in the management of patient care.

  • Clinically supervise and guide the professional work of less experienced therapy staff and students, complying with professional and departmental standards of practice.
  • Assist in operational issues in the absence of the Therapy Team Leader.
  • Participate in a nine‑monthly rotational scheme across the following areas:
  • Vascular and Amputees
  • Trauma and Orthopaedics
  • Hand Therapy
  • Health Services for Older People
  • Rapid Response / A&E
  • Acute Stroke and Neurology
  • Complex Medicine

  • Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
  • HPC Registration in OT
  • Member of Specialist OT Section group
Experience
  • Post‑graduate work experience as an Occupational Therapist, including working with patients in relevant clinical areas
  • Experience of working as an OT with patients with dementia
  • Experience of working as an OT with patients with Neurological conditions.
  • Experience of working in an inpatient physical setting
  • Experience of working in an acute setting
  • Experience of a hospital‑based Occupational Therapy Service, including working with an MDT.
