HealthJobs Ltd is seeking a Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist for the Microbiology Team in Dorchester, Dorset, UK. This locum position runs three months from 21 September 2026 to 21 December 2026, with hours 09:00–17:30, Monday to Friday, offering a competitive pay of up to £27.00 per hour.

You will perform specialist microbiology investigations, validate and report results, support infectious disease monitoring, maintain equipment, and work with clinical teams to enhance service delivery

Requirements:

• Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent with HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
• Specialist experience in microbiology.
• Proven experience working within NHS microbiology laboratories.
• Ability to independently process and analyse microbiology samples.
• Experience validating and reporting detailed laboratory results.
• Knowledge of laboratory quality assurance procedures for maintaining high standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Previous experience as a Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist.
• Experience within Clinical Pathology services.
• Experience supporting service development and audit activities.
