Job description
Position

We are seeking an enthusiastic, well‑motivated and reliable person to join our friendly team in the Microbiology department at BHR University Hospitals Trust for a fixed term of 6 months to cover maternity leave.

Work Base & Rotations

The department is based on two sites: Queen’s Hospital (QH) in Romford and King George Hospital (KGH) in Goodmayes. The post holder will be required to work in all areas of the laboratory on a rotational basis, including between the two sites, based on their experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform technical work as required in all sections of the laboratory under the supervision of senior BMS staff.
  • Work as part of a team analysing patient samples, producing results that inform patient care.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Biomedical Science and hold HCPC registration.
  • Successful completion of the IBMS Specialist Portfolio, or equivalent experience if first HCPC registration was prior to the qualification being available.
  • Computer literate with ability to follow procedures.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, enthusiasm for learning.
  • Evidence of participation in CPD.
Training & Development

Post holder will receive formal training within the Trust and within the Microbiology Department. Performance will be assessed regularly by an appraisal system and laboratory competence assessment.
