A mental health service provider in Bristol is seeking a Band 6 Occupational Therapist. The role involves providing high-quality therapy for adults with mental health difficulties, supporting a multi-disciplinary team, and developing leadership skills. The Occupational Therapy Service at Callington Road Hospital is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and skilled Band 6 Occupational Therapist with significant experience of working with people with mental health problems for secondment/ fixed term contract until the end of March 2026. We are looking for someone who is innovative, versatile, forward-thinking and confident in assessments and interventions and this post would be a good opportunity for staff considering a promotion and/or move into inpatient work.
The wards served by the team include PICU, Acute, Rehabilitation and Later Life, and the post holder will work with the Team Lead and other Band 6’s to support and develop the service as a whole, so having the opportunity to develop leadership skills.
This post will provide the opportunity to develop and use a broad range of OT skills. We offer CPD opportunities including but not limited to; VdT MoCA, Sensory work, ACLSs, leadership skills, peer & professional supervision. Students regularly join us for practice placements and we have apprentice Occupational Therapists as part of the staff team.
Callington Road Hospital is an inpatient unit for adults experiencing mental health problems and the Occupational Therapy team share office facilities with the other specialist therapies teams. Regular supervision and appraisal are an integral part of our practice.
Provide high quality Occupational Therapy Service for adults with acute mental health difficulties, being professionally accountable for a designated caseload delivering assessments & interventions.
Work as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, attending ward reviews, discharge meetings & providing timely feedback & Occupational Therapy reports as needed.
Offer support to the wider Occupational Therapy team alongside the Band 7 Occupational Therapist including providing supervision to band 5 Occupational Therapists, band 3 Occupational Therapy technicians, apprentices & students and helping to coordinate the day to day running of the service
Provide standardised & non standardised specialist assessments & interventions , 1:1's and groups, to inform care needs assessments, social care assessments, promote independence & recovery
Support the service with the prioritisation, planning, development & delivery of a high quality occupational therapy service.
Work on the ward & therapy area but also carrying out home & community assessments. Provide person focussed care which is central to helping our service users improve their mental health, recover independence & return to their community.
