Job summary

Sanctuary Personnel is seeking a Locum Band 6 Occupational Therapist for Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. The role involves inpatient assessments, discharge planning, and equipment recommendations to support safe, independent discharge.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy with current HCPC registration.
• Experience in Band 6 or Band 7 roles, preferably in an acute inpatient setting.
• Proven ability to conduct thorough assessments with strong clinical reasoning.
• Experience managing an inpatient caseload independently with good communication.

Responsibilities

• Deliver inpatient occupational therapy assessments and interventions.
• Lead discharge planning to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient resource use.
• Recommend and provide equipment to support independence and safe discharge.
• Develop and review patient-centred treatment plans with MDTs.
• Maintain accurate records and detailed reports of care.

What you will do:

• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Support patients in maximising their functional outcomes and maintaining their independence.
• Keep meticulously accurate clinical records and produce detailed reports.

Requirements:

• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy with current HCPC registration.
• Demonstrable experience in Band 6 or Band 7 Occupational Therapy roles, especially in an acute inpatient setting.
• Proven ability to conduct thorough assessments and possess strong clinical reasoning skills.
• Expertise in managing an inpatient caseload independently, alongside excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Previous experience in a Band 7 role, rehabilitation, or weekend working within multidisciplinary inpatient teams.
