Job description
Band 6 MRI Radiographer – Fixed Term Maternity Cover

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Band 6 MRI Radiographer to join the Radiology team at the Royal Free Hospital. This post would be well suited for an MRI radiographer wishing to develop and expand on their MRI experience. This is a fixed term maternity cover contract.

Education and training are key elements of MRI competence and are prioritized within the department. Full training in MRI will be given, depending upon prior experience.

The ideal candidate must have excellent communication and organizational skills, and a team and patient centered approach to their work. They should enjoy working collaboratively and aspire to always provide the best possible care for our patients, whilst teaching and sharing their knowledge with others.

Royal Free Radiology have recently completed a multimillion‑pound redevelopment of the A&E department and A&E X-ray services, including an A&E CT scanner, and have replaced scanners in MRI, CT and various x‑ray rooms. With the completion of this project there are now four Siemens MRI scanners, three 1.5T and one 3T, providing a range of complex services including HPB, Neuro, urology, and vascular imaging.

The post‑holder will be working with other Band 6 and 7 MRI specialist Radiographers, MRI trained rotational radiographers, and Radiographic Assistants to deliver a 7‑day service in the MRI Department at the Royal Free. They will develop specialised knowledge and expertise and produce high‑quality images to assist in diagnosis and treatment, while demonstrating high standards of care.

The department actively encourages continued professional development (CPD), and opportunities are available for further training and development, in areas such as postgraduate study, radiographer reporting and advanced practice.

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s biggest and most innovative trusts. Across three main hospitals, our dedicated army of staff care for over 1.6 million patients, treat more than 200,000 in A&E, deliver over 8,000 babies and carry out more than 17 million tests.
