A leading mental health organization is seeking registered practitioners for a part-time role within the MH Liaison Team in Bath. The ideal candidates will work with Older Adults at the Royal United Hospital, providing essential mental health assessments and interventions. This position offers a flexible schedule, focusing on a balanced work/life environment, while contributing to improving patient outcomes in a dynamic setting.
An exciting opportunity has arisen, for a part time position, within the MH Liaison Team in Bath. We are looking to recruit registered practitioners (RMN, OT or Social Worker) who have an interest in working with Older Adults who have presented to and are admitted to the Royal United Hospital (RUH).
We are looking for individuals who have experience in working with Older Adults who may have a cognitive impairment, delirium or complex physical health needs.
The team works alongside service users experiencing medically unexplained symptoms, functional disorders and severe and enduring mental illnesses, while being treated for physical health at the Royal United Hospital. You may also be asked to support adults of working age 18+ in frontline assessments and supporting safe discharges.
The team covers a 7‑day working week, 365 days a year and operates daily from 8am to midnight. This post is a 9‑5pm shift covering 5 days from Monday to Friday. There is no weekend working. Flexible working would be considered to promote your own work/life balance.
You will be joining an established and experienced Band 6 nurse‑led team. We invite and encourage you to spend time with us to see how exciting this job can be as no two days are ever the same!
The team is looking for like‑minded individuals who are enthusiastic, self‑motivated, eager to learn, or who already possess excellent biopsychosocial assessment and risk‑management skills.
Mental Health Liaison practitioners are accountable for the provision of a responsive, needs‑led mental health assessment and short‑term intervention service to adults presenting to the RUH with mental health problems. Promotion of a positive attitude and a supportive culture is key in relation to psychiatric illness across the general hospital.
You will be integral to improved patient journeys and outcomes for those individuals referred to the team, and should be willing to work in a flexible but exciting way to provide exemplary care to patients, as well as support for the acute hospital. Continued awareness of the effect and impact of physical health conditions on the mental health of service users is crucial, and development of good working relationships with both the RUH and community teams is necessary. This may include ad‑hoc and structured training to general colleagues, if desired; the team also provides teaching and develops learning opportunities for nursing and medical students.
Demonstration of a high level of clinical decision‑making, risk management and documentation is required, and the successful applicant will have the team’s continued support to develop their skills and learning to provide this. However, this role does require assessment, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without direct supervision.
