Job summary

Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an ENT band 6 nurse for a secondment predominantly based at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals with occasional Royal Free hospital cover. You will work autonomously and within an MDT to manage clinical caseload, lead nurse‑led clinics, and support patients throughout their journey.

You will be supported by the CNS leadership and ENT matron in a small, supportive team focused on compassionate care, continuous learning and clinical development in ENT.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a nurse with ENT background.
  • Ability to run nurse-led clinics and minor procedures.
  • Experience in clinical audits and contributing to guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical leadership: Manage ENT patients, perform assessments, plan care and initiate treatment for in- and out-patients.
  • Nurse-led clinics: Run autonomous clinics including minor procedures (micro suction, tracheostomy tube changes, wound care, allergy testing).
  • MDT collaboration: Work with ENT consultants, Speech & Language Therapists, and the MDT to coordinate patient journeys.
  • Patient education: Provide advice and information to patients and families about conditions and treatment plans.
  • Service development: Support audits and evidence-based practice; contribute to department guidelines and policies.

Job description

An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, experienced ENT band 6 nurse to join our dynamic MDT at the Royal Free trust but will predominantly work at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals with occasional Royal Free hospital cover.

You will work independently and collaboratively, managing a clinical caseload, lead nurse-led clinics, and support patients throughout their journey

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Leadership: Support the management ENT patients, conducting clinical assessments, planning care, and initiating treatment plans for in and out patients .
  • Nurse-Led Clinics: Run autonomous clinics (e.g,minor procedures such as micro suction, tracheostomy tube change clinics, wound care clinics, & allergy testing).
  • MDT Collaboration: Work closely with ENT Consultants, Speech & Language Therapists and other MDT to coordinate patient journeys.
  • Patient Education: Act as a key resource for patients and families, providing expert advice, support, and detailed information regarding conditions and treatment plans.
  • Service Development: Support clinical audits, drive evidence-based practice, and contribute to the development of departmental guidelines and policies.

You will be supported by the band 7 CNS and ENT matron whilst working within a small supportive team of CNS's who take pride in providing compassionate care and maintaining excellent communication between them.

To support the Clinical Nurse Specialist, in the management and delivery of a high quality holistic service for patients who require specialist ENT care.

The post holder will have sound knowledge and skills in management of Ear, Nose and

Throat conditions

He/ she will work collaboratively with colleagues in the ENT team and other colleagues

across the Trust to facilitate high quality individualized care to patients

The post holder will support the CNS in monitoring standards of care by clinical audit

throughout the Trust and in delivering relevant teaching programme to all professional

groups

He/she is expected to work with minimal close supervision.

The post holder will be a member of the relevant clinical groups and represent ENT

nursing issues accordingly.

If successful you'll be expected to present a 10mins presentation.
