Job Summary

Are you passionate about supporting male and female service users with complex needs through the secure care pathway? Are you an inpatient/prison nurse and feel ready to take the next steps of your career? Or are you a CPN already looking to enhance your skills further by joining a specialist team (max caseload size of 15 patients ) in secure care? If so, this could be the opportunity for you!

Main Duties

To undertake the duties of care coordinator in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care and treatment needs for a defined group of service users accessing Forensic Intensive Recovery Support Team (FIRST). To provide professional advice and support to other stakeholders involved in service users care which may include families, carers and care agencies, accommodation and housing providers, probation and criminal justice colleagues. To undertake a multi-disciplinary approach to care and work collaboratively with members of the team which may include Responsible Clinician, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, Support Time And Recovery Worker (STAR), Specialist Substance Misuse Workers, and Peer Mentors. To support colleagues when required with day‑to‑day tasks and act as a role model and resource to Band 5 CPN’s in the team and student nurses. To advocate for the client group we work with whilst promoting a culture of recovery and optimism.

  • Student Mentor Qualification & Preceptor Training.
Knowledge & Experience – Essential
  • Substantial Post registration experience in MH Settings.
  • Understanding of responsibilities under MHA and CPA, Clinical Governance, Risk Assessment, Safeguarding, Child Protection Legislation and NICE guidelines.
Knowledge & Experience – Desirable
  • Experience of working within a Forensic MH, Prison or Probation Setting.
  • Experience of working within a Community Mental Health Team.

  • Training in Phlebotomy & Psycho‑Social Interventions
