Overview

Take the next step in your mental health career with this exceptional opportunity as a Band 6 Community Forensic Practitioner based in Chertsey. This role offers you the chance to make a real difference in the lives of individuals who have offended or are at risk of offending, while working in varied and stimulating environments — from community settings to criminal justice locations.

Based at our well-connected hub in Lake House, Chertsey, with occasional work at our satellite site in Dorking, you’ll collaborate closely with a range of professionals and agencies to deliver high-quality mental health support. Backed by the Specialist Services Directorate, this is your opportunity to develop your skills while working within a supportive and forward-thinking team.

What You Will Do
  • Build strong relationships with statutory and voluntary agencies to improve outcomes for service users.
  • Undertake mental health assessments in a variety of criminal justice settings, including police stations and magistrates’ courts.
  • Provide expert advice and support to police, magistrates, probation services, and other professionals.
  • Deliver timely and effective mental health assessments and care planning.
  • Write and present reports to partner agencies, increasing understanding of mental health issues through education and liaison.
  • Coordinate care packages with mainstream psychiatric services.
  • Manage a mixed caseload of community-based clients and those in other placements, even outside the county.
  • Administer medication and act as care coordinator while adhering to all Health and Safety requirements.
