Job Summary

Please note: This vacancy is NOT an RGN post, it is a GDC registered post.

The post holder will provide a caring, professional, and specialised assistance and support for the maxillofacial, orthodontic, restorative and prosthetic clinicians and postgraduate students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide pre‑ and post‑operative specialised advice to patients, including hygiene instructions.
  • Assist in the smooth running of the department and provide professional care and specialised knowledge for patients of all ages, including children, adults, special‑needs, trauma and oncology patients.
  • Assist Consultants, Registrars and Clinicians with a variety of specialised procedures such as emergency treatments, trauma, skin biopsies, oral surgery, restorative and reconstructive treatments; preparing specialised/expensive equipment and materials.
  • Attend theatre sessions to gain knowledge and experience so they can apply a holistic approach for all patient needs when staffing levels allow.
  • Act and work independently managing clinics effectively and efficiently, as a valued member of a multidisciplinary team within the trust guidelines.
  • Travel between and work at other trust sites and outreach clinics on a regular basis (including short notice), using own transport or public transport.
  • Assist Senior Nurses in the day‑to‑day operational running and organisation of a demanding maxillofacial department and rotate across the three Royal Free London NHS sites: Barnet, Chase Farm, and Edgware Hospitals.
Location & Working Hours

Rotating across 3 Royal Free London NHS sites: Barnet, Chase Farm, and Edgware Hospitals. Monday to Friday (30 hours, 4 days) with rolling day off, 08:30 am– 04:30 pm.

Qualifications
  • National Dental Nurse Certificate Qualification.
  • Full registration with the General Dental Council.
  • Hospital training in both maxillofacial and orthodontics is preferred.
