Band 5 Occupational Therapist - Rotational

Soon to be qualifying Occupational Therapist, or already registered? We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated occupational therapists who are passionate about the profession to join our popular and well established Band 5 Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Occupational Therapy rotational scheme. We are looking for someone who has an interest in working with those with mental health conditions and learning disabilities and is seeking the opportunity to develop their OT skills.

The Mental Health and Learning Disability Band 5 Occupational Therapy rotation offers an opportunity to extend your scope of practice and experience working with individuals offering meaningful treatment interventions across a range of clinical areas including inpatient and community.

The initial rotational placement will be within the Learning Disabilities Services based at Pride House in Laindon.

Following completion of your first rotation you will have the opportunity to move onto a variety of six month rotational opportunities as detailed in the advert's supplementary information.

Main duties of the job

The band 5 rotational scheme across the wide range of clinical specialties is structured to support development of professional, clinical and technical knowledge and skills and includes preceptorship for post holders in their first year post qualification or unfamiliar with the NHS/ UK healthcare system.

The post holder will be expected to achieve an increasing level of competency demonstrated through professionalism, continuing professional development (CPD), conduct and level of responsibility and will be supported by professional supervision and appraisal and a regular peer-led band 5 occupational therapy peer support group that meets formally on a monthly basis.

Working as part of the Occupational Therapy team alongside the wider multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for working with the individual to identify how their current mental health impacts upon their daily functioning, help identify needs and goals, and establish appropriate treatment interventions to support them within their rehabilitation.

As a community based role you will be working with Adults and their carers across Trust sites in South Essex, and within clients homes and other locations in the community. The post holder will need the ability and willingness to travel between community locations and Trust sites in a timely and efficient manner.

Job responsibilities
