Job summary

Academics is seeking a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join a friendly Therapy Team in a specialist educational setting in Hillingdon. You will deliver evidence-based interventions to promote independence, participation and functional skills for children with complex needs.

You will contribute to assessment, treatment planning and therapy, working with teachers and the MDT to embed strategies into daily learning and support pupils to achieve meaningful outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Must be HCPC registered as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Experience or interest in working with children and young people with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of OT assessment and evidence-based intervention approaches.
  • Understanding of sensory processing, functional skills and promoting independence.
  • Excellent multidisciplinary working and communication skills.
  • Confident in teamwork while developing clinical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to promote independence and functional skills for pupils.
  • Support assessment, treatment planning and therapy across sensory processing, motor skills, ADLs and access to learning.
  • Embed OT strategies into everyday learning in collaboration with teachers and the MDT.
  • Contribute to positive outcomes for pupils through team-based care.

Job description

Band 5 Occupational Therapist

Location: Hillingdon

Hours: 40 hours per week, term time, plus 120 additional hours across the year and staff training days

Contract: Permanent

The Role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our friendly and supportive Therapy Team. Working within a specialist educational setting, you will deliver evidence-based occupational therapy interventions that promote independence, participation and functional skills for children and young people with complex needs.

You will support assessment, treatment planning and therapy across areas including sensory processing, motor skills, activities of daily living, functional independence and access to learning. You will work collaboratively with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team to embed occupational therapy strategies into everyday learning and support positive outcomes for pupils.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Experience or a strong interest in working with children and young people with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy assessment and evidence-based intervention approaches.
  • An understanding of sensory processing, functional skills and promoting independence.
  • Excellent multidisciplinary working and communication skills.
  • Confidence working as part of a supportive team while developing clinical skills and knowledge.
  • A positive, flexible and child-centred approach with a passion for improving outcomes for young people.
